We enjoyed the wedding of Brent & Ashley at Oak Farm Vineyards on July 30, 2011.

The Bridal Party was a lot of fun. Since Ashley is a dancer, most of her bridesmaids were also. So they did this fun Jumping Bridal Party Shots. I have to say the Groomsmen did awesome for not being dancers.

After a beautiful sunset, Brent and Ashley danced there first dance to "Stuck like Glue" by Sugarland. This was a fun mix of spins and handstands. Everything went off without a hitch.

We hope Brent and Ashley dance into the sunset with a happily ever after. Congrats

Ryan & Tory - Morris Chapel & Oak Farm Vineyards

Ryan & Tory were married at Morris Chapel at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. On July 23, 2011 the festivities started at the Stockton Hilton Hotel, were all the Bridesmaids got ready then we all headed over to UOP for Pictures.

A lot of the Bridal Party went to the University of the Pacific. So we made some special stops on the campus for photo opts. Especially in front of the Tri-Delta House, were Tory and 2 of her bridesmaids were Sorority Sisters.

They had a beautiful ceremony in Morris Chapel, with a catholic ceremony which was short and sweet.

Then we drove over to Lodi, to Oak Farm Vineyards were the party began. This group knows how to have a good time. They enjoyed our Photo Booth, where their guests had a great time making a guestbook for the Bride & Groom.

We want to wish Ryan & Tory, a happy marriage and a happy home in Seattle.

Reggie & Amara - July 16, 2011

Today was a long day coming for Reggie & Amara. After 3 years of planning, July 16, 2011 was the big day.

Amara got ready with all of her Bridesmaids at the Stockton Hilton Hotel, and then she was whisked off to UOP Morris Chapel for her traditional Catholic Wedding.

Reggie and Amara were married in a Civil Ceremony 3 years ago to the day of their Catholic Church wedding. After heartache and tragedy, there family came together to celebrate their love for one another.

There son Andre was a key part of the ceremony, as the ring bearer.

Their bridal party was a great mix of family and friends.

After their ceremony, everyone headed over to The Reserve at Spanos Park for the wedding reception. Their wedding was very fun and entertaining. They had a Photo Booth by Mary Gillespie Photography for all of their guests to enjoy some photo fun. The Bride and Groom sung a duet of the song "Lucky" by Colbie Caillat.

We want to wish Reggie, Amara & Andre there happily ever after. Their wedding will be one to remember.

Jennifer & George - Viaggio Winery Engagement Session

We just finished Jennifer and George's Engagement Session at Viaggio Winery of Lodi.

The tasting room was a lot of fun to shoot in, beautiful windows and a great barrel room.

Jennifer lives here locally after finding a job in the Lodi Area, George lives in Southern California. These two are proof that long distance relationships can work. There love is very apparent.

The Bridal Party consisted of Danielle’s sister Krissy and Ryan’s best man Joe. Joe was friends with Danielle in College and this is how Ryan and Danielle met.

Travis & Renee' got married at the Micke Grove Japanese Gardens in Lodi CA.

Our happy couple met at Starbucks coffee, where they both work. They even had some fun coffee references in their vows to each other.

This Bridal Party was a lot of fun to be around. They did an awesome job despite the 102 degree temp on this Summer Day.

In the middle of their romantic first dance, they broke into a fun funky dance to Sugar Hill Gangs "Apache (Jump on It)"!

I met Violet through her Cousin Silvia's wedding in November 2009. Violet was a Bridesmaid.

Aleks and Breanna got married on June 26th, 2011 at Grace Vineyards in Galt, CA.

The wedding was a beautiful mix of friends and family. Breanna grew up in the San Joaquin Area and Aleks is a native Australian. They meet a mutual friend’s house in Manteca, and continued to have a whirl wind courtship while traveling and seeing each other in 50+ Countries.

Their bridal party consists of Friends and Family, from Australia, the UK and the US.

We had such a fun time with the ladies, doing fun photos and some diva dramatic photos.

The guys were equally as fun, and played it up for the camera. Right after the wedding, the groom popped a HUGE magnum bottle of champagne to celebrate with their Bridal Party. What a great way to get the party started.

They danced there first dance, poolside where all their guests watched on.

As the sun set over their reception, we stole the Bride and Groom for some sunset shots.

On June 11th 2011, we had the pleasure of photographing Brian & Jamie's wedding at Heritage Oak Winery in Acampo, CA. My Husband Dave and I enjoyed spending the day with Brian, Jamie and their Bridal Party. What a fun bunch of people.

When I asked the couple "Is there any special requests for their wedding photos", they both told us to have fun and be creative. So I had a blast doing all of their photos.

The Bride and Groom decided to take all of their photos BEFORE the wedding. So we made special time for both of them to have their "First Look"! When Brian saw Jamie, he said "WOW" grabbed her and gave her huge kiss.

The Bridal Party was supplied with Fun "Ray Ban" inspired glasses, and all the groomsmen wore suspenders.

Brian and Jamie know how to get their party started. What a grand entrance!

We snuck out to the vineyard, with the sun going down for some romantic photos. This one is my all time favorite. We want to wish Brian & Jamie the best for the future, Party On!

I had to post some photos of Peter & Tiffany's Goth Wedding (Goth Elegance). They had amazing colors and textures through their whole wedding

There cake was Red Velvet, and the Cake Decorator was told to do "Cute Skulls", I think she did a great job on the skulls.

The Event took place at Harmony Wynelands in Lodi; CA. They have beautiful gardens and vineyards.

We enjoyed working with Peter and Tiffany; they are so nice and fun to work with.

After nine years of photographing weddings, Mary Frazee opened a photography studio with her husband, Dave. Now, the couple are business partners for Mary Gillespie Photography, the newest wedding, children's and portrait photo studio open on Lodi Avenue. The new studio is complete with an office, a consulting area and a lounge area. Mary Frazee, who grew up in Valley Springs, took a few moments to talk about her start in photography and her passion for photographing people.

Q: When did you start taking pictures?
A: I started when I was 14. I've been doing weddings since 2000.

My mother, Mary Gillespie, was a huge advocate for photography. I got my first camera at the age of 6. I got into it in high school. My mom was a photographer for her high school yearbook, and I was the photo editor of my high school yearbook.

Q: How did you learn the art of photography?
A: I'm 100 percent self-taught. I took three years (of classes) in high school. When I was 19-and-a-half, though I already had a darkroom at home, I signed up for a class at a community college. The professor came in, said "here are the supplies, there's the darkroom, see you (at the end of the semester)." I left after that. I wasn't learning anything that I didn't already know.

You cannot teach creativity; you only give the tools to become a better photographer.

Q: So your parents encouraged you to pursue art?

A: My mother and father were a really good driving force. Dad and mom always said, follow your dreams, but have a day job while you're doing it; do photography on the weekends.
Q: Do you shoot solo?

A: My husband, Dave Frazee, shoots weddings also. Now we're partners full-time. We photographed 43 weddings in 2009. One weekend, we had three weddings. If Dave can't make it, my mom fills in as a second shooter.

Q: When did you two get married?

A: We've been married since December of 2006.

Q: You photographed about 70 kids during Halloween. Will you do anything special for Christmas?

A: We're doing Santa photos starting the day after Thanksgiving. (Packages) start off at $10 and go up to $30. It's not like going to the mall to get Santa pictures. You don't have to stand in line. I remember when I was little, my mom took me to the mall to get my photo taken with Santa at the mall, and to keep me happy, she gave me a purple Slurpee. In all of the photos, I have purple teeth.

Q: What are you tips for brides and grooms searching for a wedding photographer?

A: You want to find a photographer that matches your personality. You have to realize, a photographer is going to shadow you your whole day. You want to like their style. And then you have to look at the price.

It's three P's — personality, product and price.

Q: What is your price range?

A: Our weddings start at $1,795. That is really rare. We give discs of photos, which a lot of photographers don't do. We also do all-day coverage, from two hours before the ceremony to the bouquet and garter toss at the end of the reception. We get all the important stuff because we don't miss anything.

Q: What's the best part of photographing weddings?

A: We like being part of an inner circle. You get to know the bridal party and friends.

Q: What's a goal you have for your photography business?

A: We're trying to be a lifetime photographer. We want to photograph children and then their graduations. We want to be the everything photographer. It all has to do with personality and product. We really want to be known for great customer service. I have a great personality; when I have brides smiling and laughing, and they're enjoying their day, our job is complete. It makes us feel like we've done our jobs.

Q: When you are not shooting, what do you enjoy doing?

A: I really enjoy my family time. We like to cook a big dinner and play games. My mom and I are really close.

W love to travel. We've been to all the Carribeans and Hawaii. I went to Mexico before I was married, and I've traveled to 22 states.

Q: What are you favorite shooting locations in Lodi?

A: Lodi Lake, all the time. Hutchins Street Square is becoming my favorite. They have amazing fall color. Downtown is becoming my favorite, too.

Q: What kind of camera and lenses do you use?

A: I use a Canon 5D Mark II. I use the 16-35 mm lens and the 70-200 mm 2.8.

Q: Do you have any tips for those wanting to get started in photography?

A: It's about just getting out there and shooting, learning by default. And you need a descent camera with more than 8 to 10 megapixels.

Q: What are three Web sites you check daily?

A: Facebook, my Web site (www.marygphotography.com) and Professional Photographers of America (www.ppa.com).

Q: Some photographers are inspired by very well-known people like Annie Liebovitz. Who are your inspirations?

A: Ansel Adams was my (favorite) landscape photographer forever. I like Bambi Cantrell for wedding photography. She big on making brides look their best. Also Jerry Ghionis.

Halloween Photos were a Success!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say our First try at Halloween Photos were a big success! We photographed over 75 kids that day, and boy they all looked so cute. We stayed at the studio from 10am to 7pm on Saturday 10/31/2009. People came in all day long. I have to Thank, the Crew at Sign-a-rama in Stockton for making such a great Halloween Banner for us. It got everybodies attention and more. Now we are gearing up for Santa Photos, more info to come.

Dave and I decided to do something fun with the Studio for Halloween. We have a Big fall backdrop set up for Halloween Portraits. Kids can come in on Saturday, October 31st for a professional portrait. Its a first come, first serve basis. Our hours will be 10am.-7pm that day.
For $10 they can have a quality 5x7 portrait taken. There is no cost per child. Just per picture. Great Memories start with Great Photos.

Adriana & Lasaro's E-Session at UC Davis

Adriana & Lasaro both attended UC Davis. So the campus held a special place in their hearts. They gave us a great tour of the campus, and we photographed as we went. I have enjoyed getting to know these two over the last few months. Their wedding in February is going to be a blast.

They really wanted to be photographed by the Egg head statues through the campus.
They made for fun subjects and a great laugh.

After taking these pictures I was cracking up. I was looking at the expressions on my couple’s faces and not the egg heads.

The last pictures of the shoot were all done in their favorite Raiders Jersey's.

Christine & Javier's E-session, UC Berkeley & Baker Beach

Christine & Javier were amazing fun people to photograph. We started off in Berkeley at the Cal Campus. They both attended UC Berkeley, and now live close by.

We were able to take lots of traditional photos and fun artistic ones too. They wanted a mix taken on the Berkeley Campus and then we jumped in the car and headed to Baker Beach in San Francisco.

Baker Beach is an awesome place for photos. But when the weather is nice in SF the place is packed. So I had to contend with a lot of people, but I was able to get some great shots.

But I wish someone would've warned me about the nudist on Baker Beach. Let’s just say we didn’t get close enough to see anything. Thank goodness.

Michelle's Boudoir Session - Wine & Roses

We did a Sunday Boudoir Session at Wine & Roses Hotel in Lodi, CA. Michelle was one of the ladies that decided to be a part of this fun shoot. Michelle found me after I did a friend of hers Boudoir Session in June. So she decided to do a session with me.

At first I could tell Michelle was a little nervous, but after a few minutes we were laughing and having a great time.

Jason & Kristina's Wedding - Morris Chapel

Dave & I met Jason & Kristina over a year ago at a local bridal show. We feel in love with their personalities instantly. We got to know them more through Bridal Shows, their Engagement Session and lastly their wedding.

The setting was Morris Chapel on the University of Pacific Campus in Stockton, Ca.

Then we headed over to their reception at Dynasty Seafood Restaurant in Lincoln Center. This was a special place to Kristina, since it is her families Restaurant.

They served a Nine Course Meal with Lobster, Duck and many other Chinese Dishes. Kristina told me they had to serve 9 since it was good luck. They also did a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony for the Parents and Grandparents.

We enjoyed every minute of their wedding. They are both carefree and loving individuals, that let me be creative and capture their wedding in Photos.

Kim & Brian's E-Session, University of the Pacific - August 13th, 2009

Kim & Brian meet at Modesto Junior College. Through Junior College, Fresno State & Graduation these two have been together. After fate landed them both new jobs in the San Joaquin County, they decided to make Lodi Home.

We had lots of fun moments on their session and some purely romantic ones too. UOP has these beautiful grounds to capture any mood or feeling. Kim & Brian are a breeze to work with and I can't wait for their wedding.

Roses are in full bloom, and make for some great color in photos. I wish my roses at home looked this good.

Krysta & Clayton, Historic Sutter Creek - August 10th, 2009

Sutter Creek was the backdrop of Krysta & Clayton's Engagement Session. Krysta's Grandma lives in this cute downtown area, and we actually ran into her grandma during their session.

Sutter Creek has so much old charm, and I never thought about photographing her until Krysta came up with the idea.

These two have the best smiles, so every picture I took looked great!

This wall was awesome. I told Krysta to put the moves on Clayton, but I think Clayton was putting the moves on her. When we got into the session, these two needed no direction. I was just capturing who they are, when they are together.

Christina & Eugene's E-Session, Micke Grove. August 9th, 2009

It was all laughter with Eugene & Christina at their Engagement Session in Micke Grove. Rhonda from Media Fusion www.MediaFusionStudios.com came out to capture there session on Video.

You could tell how much in love these two are when they get together. They are so playful and fun. This makes for great photos.

We will be playing the footage of Christina & Eugene's Session at our Grand Opening Party, coming up in September.

Heather & Chris's E-Session, SF Botanical Gardens - August 3rd, 2009

When we meet Heather & Chris they knew they wanted there Engagement Session in SF. Chris grew up going to the Botanical Gardens with his Grandfather, and started taking Heather there through there courtship. He proposed to Heather in Golden Gate Park near the gardens..

Chris gave Heather a Beautiful Blue Topaz ring encrusted with diamonds around the edge. Its very eye catching and looked great with her dress.

We had a great time on there shoot. During our walk through the gardens, maintance was watering EVERYWHERE. Heather was a trooper, running away from incoming sprinklers in her high heels.

We talked about many places to shoot Sarah & Perry's Engagement Session. But it all made sense when we mentioned CSU Stanislaus in Turlock. Perry & Sarah both Graduated & Meet at Stanislaus State.

Sarah was a year ahead of Perry in School. When Perry was a freshmen he moved into dorm Room #316, which happened to be Sarah's dorm the year before. Just by chance Sarah stopped by her old dorm room and meet Perry for the first time. We just had to take pictures infront of the door that started it all. Plus there College Fraternity/Sorority Sweatshirts didn't hurt either.
I have to hand it to them for the Great Idea!

We were so excited when we drove by the studio on August 10th, to see that we have walls. I have been driving by our building since February to see an empty building. I always wanted to draw on pictures, so I got my chance. If you have a hard time reading the wording. You can click on the pictures to blow them up.

Kevin & Nicole, Wine & Roses - August 1st, 2009

Kevin and Nicole met while attending College in New Mexico and also reside there today. Nicole grew up in the Central Valley and decided to have her wedding at Wine & Roses in Lodi. Since Nicole still lives in NM, I met with her Madonna her Mother. After many phone calls, emails and website. Nicole and Kevin decided to go with our services for there big day.

This Baseball inspired picture is all Dave's doing. Kevin is a huge Baseball fan, and even had a customized home plate at there wedding (with there names on it). I love that my husband takes these crazy fun shots of the Groom and his Groomsmen. They even took faux Football pics.

Nicole had this amazing sweetheart neckline dress which showed off her amazing figure. Every photo I took of Nicole and Kevin were beautiful. They are both great people to work with and I feel there picture reflex there awesome personalities.

Natalie & Brian, Downtown Lodi - July 29th, 2009

Natalie decided she wanted a fun retro 50's shoot for her engagement session. She loved the era and Downtown Lodi made a perfect backdrop. Brian met Natalie at this Moo Moo's Burgers in Downtown Lodi, and it was only fitting to go back and do some photos there.

They both laughed and had a good time, which makes for AWESOME pictures.
Natalie's retro inspired bike made for great photos also. Brian made her a little license plate for her bike that says "Natillac" like Cadillac. Which I thought was very cute.

Gabe & Kelsey's One Year Anniversary, July 26th, 2009 - Pinecrest, CA

One year ago, Dave and I were photographing Gabe & Kelsey's Wedding in Sonora, CA. Since it was there anniversary they wanted to do a photo session to commemorate there 1 year together.

Kelsey grew up going to Pinecrest (30 miles east of Sonora), and wanted some nice scenic photos. When I got there, I had no idea how nice the surroundings were. It had water, redwoods, boats and great boulders.

Aarons, Modeling Photo Session, Downtown Lodi - July 28th, 2009

Today we did Aaron's modeling photo session. We met Aaron at the Panera Bread in Lodi after meeting with one of our clients. He is this really nice 18 year old, that wants to get into modeling. I told him I would be happy to do some TFP work for him. I need some more Males in my portfolio. Every senior session, I have had for the last 4 years has been girls.

Downtown Lodi makes for great pics, since it is very industrial and urban.

There was a train passing by when we were down on Elm Street. Dave came up with this pose of him leaning on the crossing arms as the train goes wizzzzzzing past. I told him he didn't have to do it if he didn't want too. I get so nervous about trains. I had a hard time getting that close myself. But I am happy I did.

Cathy & Tony, E-Session at CSU Stanislaus - Turlock CA, July 19th, 2009

Dave and I went down to CSUS in Turlock on one very hot afternoon. Tony went to CSUS so we thought this would be a great place to do there E-session. Cathy & Tony meet during a theatrical production of "Barefoot in the Grass"! We thought it would only be fitting to photograph them actually barefoot and in the grass.

Tony enjoyed his photo shoot a little to much, and he was hamming it up for the camera. These to were have a great time, and very much in love. It was great catching there great personality's on camera. There wedding is going to be fun, I just know it.

Diane & Andrew's E-Session, Morro Strand Beach - Morro Bay

Andrew & Diane drove down to Morro Bay for there E-Session with us. They were so fun and easy to photograph. Pretty much I just captured them as they are. I have done other engagement sessions on beaches before, but never at 6 in the evening. I think I will do this again for another photo shoot.

Nicholas & Guilliana, Sunol Valley Golf Club - July 18th, 2009

Dave and I had a great time with Nick & Guilliana at there wedding. The Day was a very hot one (around 104 degrees), and we thought we were going to melt during the ceremony. But by some stroke of luck we had cloud cover for the whole ceremony and a breeze. Imagine that.

They both are incredible dancers and when I captured this photo, I was very happy since it is a rarity for me to get a great face dancing shot like this.
The contrast of the Blue Sky, Green Grass and Palm trees was amazing at this location. It made for amazing shots and portraits.

Dave snapped this shot of Guilliana slipping Nick's wedding ring on for the first time.

Inside our new loction at 501 W. Lodi Ave

This is the inside of our soon to be Studio in Lodi. This has been a longggggg process for us. We found the building in February, Signed the Lease in April and we are still waiting for the final permits and plans to go through, which should be any day now(fingers crossed).

These are the windows that will be facing Lodi Avenue, We will have our shooting space by the 2 right side window and our client meeting area will be by the left side door. The studio is going to be 1000 sq ft.

This is the back of the building that faces the parking lot. But the front looks a lot like the back. The sign has been ordered for the front, we have ALL the furniture already. You should see my house, it looks like a storage unit. But its nice to know, I have everything already to go. All I need is some walls and a set of keys. And I am set.

I have teamed up with my Mom, Barbara. To start offering Kids Sports Photography. My mom was my driving force of becoming a photographer growing up. She started with photography at a young age, but never pursued it professionally. She decided instead to Marry and Raise a family. I am excited to help my Mom fulfill her dream that she had so many years ago that seemed impossible. Love you Mom.
